UV Disinfection System
Chemical-free ultraviolet technology that eliminates 99.99% of bacteria, viruses, and protozoa from your well water.
Continuous Microbiological Protection
Private wells aren't treated with chlorine like municipal water, leaving your family vulnerable to harmful bacteria and viruses. Our UV Disinfection System provides a continuous barrier of protection, destroying microorganisms on contact as water flows through the stainless steel chamber — with zero chemicals added to your water.

Frequently Asked Questions
UV disinfection at the NSF Class A dose of 40 mJ/cm² eliminates 99.99% of harmful microorganisms including E. coli, total coliform, Giardia lamblia, Cryptosporidium, Legionella, hepatitis, and many other bacteria, viruses, and protozoa. It's effective against chlorine-resistant organisms that even municipal treatment can miss.
The UV lamp should be replaced annually — approximately every 9,000 hours of operation. Even though the lamp may still appear to be working, UV output decreases over time and may no longer deliver a sufficient germicidal dose. The built-in lamp life indicator will alert you when replacement is needed. Lamp replacement is tool-free and takes under 5 minutes.
Operating costs are minimal. The system uses between 39 and 80 watts of electricity depending on model size — comparable to a standard light bulb running 24/7. The primary ongoing cost is the annual lamp replacement. Total annual operating cost including electricity and lamp is typically under $100, making UV one of the most affordable disinfection methods available.
For UV disinfection to work effectively, the water must be relatively clear. Iron, tannins, sediment, and high turbidity can shield bacteria from the UV light. We recommend installing a 5-micron sediment pre-filter at minimum, and if you have iron or tannins, those should be addressed first with the appropriate treatment system. Your Penguin Water dealer can recommend the right pre-treatment for your specific water quality.
